Who I am

I am Adam Godfrey, a freelance designer and developer in Manchester, and I look after your data.

What the chat collects

Only what you type or pick in the chat, plus how you found the site.

That means the kind of help you need, your budget, your name, your email and any notes. I also see the page you were on and how you arrived, for example a search engine, a link or a campaign tag. That is read when you press send and is not stored in your browser.

I use it only to reply to you and, if we work together, to run the project. I rely on your request to take steps before a possible contract, and on my legitimate interest in knowing which channels bring enquiries. I never sell your data or add you to a mailing list.

Who helps run the site

A few trusted services handle data for me, only to do their job.

• Cloudflare hosts the site, runs the bot check on the chat and counts visits without cookies.
• Resend sends the enquiry to me and the confirmation to you.
• Formspree receives your message instead if my own route ever fails, so it is never lost.
• Hostinger runs my email inbox.

Some of them process data in the United States. Where that happens they use the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK Extension to the EU US Data Privacy Framework.

How long I keep it

Two years for enquiries, six years if we work together.

Enquiries that do not become projects are deleted within two years. Project emails and invoices are kept for six years because tax law requires it.

No advertising or tracking cookies, so no cookie banner. This is everything the site uses.

UK law allows settings like these and anonymous statistics without asking first, as long as you can say no. You can do that here. To stop being counted in the statistics, use your browser's tracker blocking setting, or email me and I will help.

Your rights

Ask to see, correct, delete or limit your data at any time.

You can also object to how I use it. Email hello@adamgodfrey.co.uk and I will reply within a month. If you are unhappy with how I handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
